Eric's Biography
The Click Five formed in 2003. Ethan Mentzer, Ben Romans, Joe Guese, and Joey Zehr met at Berklee College of Music. The four decided to make a band together, but realized they had no lead singer. That's when Eric Dill came into the picture.
Eric Murnan Dill was born on February 10, 1981 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Greg and Sheryl Dill. Eric began playing the electric guitar when he was in seventh grade, refusing any other instruments his parents suggested. Joey Zehr and Eric were childhood friends, playing on the same baseball team when younger. When Eric decided to make a band during high school, Joey was immediately recruited to be the drummer. His parents had owned Allied Automation, where he had spent much of his childhood. Which is why Eric chose to go to Purdue University for industrial technology while Joey went to Berklee. Eric formed the band Amino when he was at Purdue.
He was working at one of his waiter jobs when he got the phone call from his old friend Joey. For awhile, Eric drove back and forth from Indiana to Massachusetts every weekend in order to rehearse with the band. Eventually, it got to be too much of a hassle, so Eric moved to live in Boston with the band and finished up his degree online.
For some time, the band played in near by areas, but weren't really welcomed by the Boston crowd. They eventually signed with Lava records. Wayne Sharp ended up becoming their manager and also inviting them over for dinner on Thanksgiving. The Click Five had just gone to KISS concert recently, so they were really excited to have thanksgiving with Paul Stanley, who happened to also be spending Thanksgiving with Wayne. Paul and the Ben were able to co write the song, Angel to You (Devil to Me), which was loved by the fans.
One of their first big tours was touring with Ashlee Simpson. Eric then met Lucy Walsh, who was touring with Ashlee as her keyboardist and the two became a couple. We are not currently sure if Eric and Lucy are still together or not.
Eric and The Click Five parted their separate ways in 2006 after starring in the movie Taking Five with the rest of The Click Five. After Taking Five, Eric also found he had an interest in acting. Currently, Eric resides in Los Angeles, California. His CD is due to come out sometime in mid 2008. You can also get more information on him at his official website- ericdill.com |
